The hero's journey

The life of Bairo Leandro Gonzalez Martinez in the 12 stages of the hero's journey: from Colombia to the seventh attempt, and what each fall teaches you.

The life of Bairo Leandro Gonzalez Martinez fits, stage by stage, into the hero's journey: the path Joseph Campbell found in myths from all over the world, in The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949), and that Christopher Vogler organized into twelve stages.

It is not a superhero story. It is the story of an ordinary man who fell many times and got up every time. That is why it works for you.

In each stage, there is what he lived through, what it teaches you, and the chapter where the full story is told.

1. The ordinary world

A boy in Colombia, born in 1982. Nothing special in sight: a house, a language, a country. And a sentence he kept repeating without anyone taking it seriously: "One day I'm going to live in Brazil." There was no plan and no money. There was a certainty spoken out loud, before there was any road leading to it.

What it teaches you: every great road begins in a small place. The dream you don't yet know how to fulfill is already doing its job, which is to point the direction.

Chapter: Capoeira was the bridge

2. The call to adventure

The call came through a capoeira circle. Before he knew the country, he learned Brazil with his body, to the rhythm of the berimbau. And, in 2002, the door opened: an education company brought him over for a management position. The boyhood dream had become a ticket.

What it teaches you: the call rarely arrives the way we imagine. Sometimes it is a song, an invitation, a side door. Pay attention to what keeps coming back.

Chapter: Capoeira was the bridge

3. Refusal of the call

One day he wanted to follow his own path and leave the company. He found himself without documents in hand, far from home, afraid. Years in the shade followed. And, when a new idea knocked on the door, bringing artificial intelligence and augmented reality into the business, he was told it wouldn't work. He believed in the idea, and gave up anyway. Years later, it became a trend.

What it teaches you: fear is not a sign that you are wrong. Giving up on an idea you knew was good hurts more than trying and falling. Keep that pain: next time it turns into courage.

4. Meeting the mentor

His mentors were not in the same room. They were in the stories. Walt Disney, who saw the park before it existed. Henry Ford, who heard "impossible" and said keep going. Steve Jobs, who put human life inside ten seconds. Ayrton Senna, who decided to be the best before any victory. And there was a flesh-and-blood mentor, too small to speak: his daughter. When she was born, a mistake no longer cost only him.

What it teaches you: you can learn from people you will never meet. Choose carefully the stories you let live in your head, because they become your yardstick.

5. Crossing the threshold

He moved to the city where his daughter was born and tried again. This time, he did not stop at the first answer. He began producing natural-based cosmetics, at a time when the market was looking the other way. People said it wouldn't work. It did. For the first time, he got there before the wave and stayed in the water.

What it teaches you: the crossing happens when you do, again, what you once abandoned. You don't need to be ready. You need to not stop at the first answer.

Chapter: Every no is the ground of a yes

6. Tests, allies and enemies

With the brand on its feet, he saw the next step, touchscreen technology for the business. The answer came from within: the partners pushed him out and kept the idea. He went to work in events and digital printing, built up capital and reinvented himself. That was where he discovered the sentence he still carries: every no is the ground of a yes.

What it teaches you: not every ally stays to the end, and that is not the end. Every closed door leaves something in your hands. Learn to choose whom you build with.

Chapter: Every no is the ground of a yes

7. Approach to the inmost cave

With the money from events, he decided to play a different position: to invest as a partner in a company. The business was not what it seemed. It did not hold. He lost everything again, and this time he was not alone in the fall: many people depended on him. Human lives, fifty of them by his own count.

What it teaches you: there is a moment when the fall stops being yours alone. That is where you discover who you are. Complaining is the natural reaction. It is not the only one.

Chapter: Fifty lives

8. The ordeal

Broke, he made the most unlikely decision: to do what he did not know how to do. Build a currency, a bank, a network. It went wrong, and not for lack of ideas. The very people he had helped left him hanging. It is the shortest sentence in this story, and the hardest. He kept going.

What it teaches you: when the people you helped walk away, the question is not "why?". It is "do I keep going?". Your decision to go on cannot depend on anyone's gratitude.

Chapter: Fifty lives

9. The reward

And, this time, it worked. Bairo says that a digital currency he launched at the right moment served as the foundation for an urban mobility app. For the first time, an idea of his was neither taken nor abandoned. Around it grew a community of people who shared the same idea of the future, and the immigrant who once lost his footing began, according to him, to build businesses in several countries.

What it teaches you: the reward often comes through the same door where you took the most blows. Don't abandon the ground where you fell. Sometimes that is where your yes is.

Chapter: The coin and the road

10. The road back

A beautiful map does not mean an easy road. At some point along the way, he was once again broke, broken and beaten. No plan left in the drawer. What remained was a flame of hope and faith. It was in a congregation, listening to stories of ordinary people who had crossed through the impossible, that he came to believe in the God of the impossible. And, in a search inward, he saw his best self: a prosperous man, not only in money, in peace.

What it teaches you: when nothing is left on the outside, there is still the inside. Finding silence in the middle of the noise is not running from the problem. It is the first step toward seeing the way out.

Chapter: The God of the impossible

11. The resurrection

He came out of that experience with an image and no map. He didn't know how to code. He asked for wisdom, understanding and courage to remember how to get there. He took as his symbol the hydrogen frequency, 1420 MHz, the band the world agreed to leave in silence. He sat down in front of a computer and spent six months without leaving the house. Out of that came the foundation of CEASA Bank's platform and artificial intelligence, built on a company he had had since 2019. The banks refused to integrate the solution. He used the no as ground and built his own infrastructure.

What it teaches you: being reborn is not going back to who you were. It is building, with your own hands, the person you saw. Sometimes that takes six months of closed doors and no applause.

Chapter: The frequency of silence

12. Return with the elixir

After six months alone, he was no longer alone: three old acquaintances joined in to finish the work. The seventh attempt, the one that worked, carried all the others inside it. What he brought back is a body: CLAIN as the brain, BTZ Chain as the veins, BICOIN as the blood, Xperienc as the neural connection, qrqbits as the external transmission. And one idea that runs through it all: human lifetime is the most valuable thing there is, because it never comes back. The man who searched for his own best self now searches for the best in others.

What it teaches you: the elixir is not success. It is what you do with what you learned by falling. Your whole story, falls included, is the most valuable thing you have to give others.

And your journey?

Everyone who has ever gone broke, been evicted, heard "it can't be done" or lost their footing is in one of these twelve stages. None of them is the end.

If you are in the cave, know that it has a way out. If you are in the ordeal, know that many people have crossed it before you. If you have already come back, tell your story. It could be someone's bridge.
