How to use ChatGPT to sell more

Use AI to understand the customer, write clear offers, answer objections and follow up with those who didn't buy. Selling is still a relationship.

ChatGPT, and also Claude, Gemini and Copilot, help you sell more when they're used for what most holds back a small business's sales: lack of time to write, difficulty explaining the product's value, fear of answering objections and forgetting to get back in touch with those who didn't buy. The tool doesn't create customers out of nothing. It helps you talk better with the customers who are already close.

Selling more with AI isn't sending more automatic messages. It's sending the right message, to the right person, in the tone of someone who knows their own customer.

Why AI is not a chatbot

Many people associate AI in sales with the robot that fires off messages and replies "I didn't understand." That usually drives customers away. The use that works is a different one: the AI prepares, you have the conversation.

In Bairo's view, AI is an extension of you. He says that "AI is not a chatbot, but an extension of your consciousness." In sales, that means the tool takes your way of serving customers further, but trust is still built between people.

Step by step today

  1. Describe your ideal customer. Before writing any ad, understand whom you're talking to:
I sell [product or service] in [city/online], for [price range].
My best customers are [describe 2 or 3 you know].
Build this customer's profile: what they want, what they fear,
where they are, what words they use and why they would buy from me.
  1. Rewrite your offer in the language of benefits. Paste the product description and ask it to turn features into concrete gains for the customer, without exaggeration and without promises you can't keep.
  2. Prepare answers to objections. List what you hear: "it's expensive," "I'll think about it," "I saw it cheaper":
These are the objections I hear most: [list them]. For each one,
write a short, respectful and honest answer that doesn't
pressure the customer and explains the value of what I sell.
  1. Create follow-up messages. Many sales are lost because no one got back in touch. Ask for three message templates for people who asked for a quote and disappeared: one after 2 days, one after a week, one after a month. Personalize each one with the name and a detail from the conversation.
  2. Test two versions. Write two different ads for the same product, publish each for a week and compare. Take the result back to the AI and ask for a third version based on what worked.
  3. Train your customer service. Ask the AI to play a difficult customer:
Play the part of a skeptical customer interested in [product].
Ask one question at a time and wait for my answer. At the end,
give me a score from 0 to 10 and tell me where I could have sold better.
  1. Analyze what has already sold. With a spreadsheet without personal data (date, product, amount, channel), ask it to identify the days, products and channels that sell most.
  2. Check the rules. Promotions, giveaways and ads must follow Brazil's Consumer Protection Code. When in doubt, ask the AI what precautions to take and confirm with Procon or a professional.

How Bairo did it

Bairo Leandro Gonzalez Martinez learned to sell before he learned technology. According to him, he trained sales professionals and built, with a currency of his own, a community of people who believed in the same idea of the future. For him, a community doesn't form around a product, but around a belief.

When he decided to build with artificial intelligence, he spent six months at home, in front of the computer, without knowing how to code. Out of those months came the foundation of the platform and the AI of CEASA Bank, a financial platform for agribusiness whose proposal is to put agribusiness buyers and sellers in direct contact. That's selling at the root: shortening the distance between those who produce and those who buy.

Precautions

Selling with AI requires the same respect as selling without it: don't paste customer lists with phone numbers and CPF numbers into the tools, don't publish testimonials or numbers made up by the AI, check prices, deadlines and conditions before sending, don't let the tool promise health, beauty or money results (that can be misleading advertising), and notice whether the generated messages speak to every kind of customer or only to a narrow profile.
